Member Spotlight: Brooke

Since Brooke's first workout at Kazam, I knew she'd progress really fast... Especially when I learned of her prior experience competing in Strongman events. As Brooke has now been with us for sometime, I believe she truly embody's what CrossFit is all about.

I can't think of a time that something has frustrated her, but then comes back with a "I'll get 'em next time," or "today's just not my day, I'll get it tomorrow." If you had the chance to interact with Brooke, you know she's very warm, welcoming, and very encouraging. She's also really strong... like, really strong. She gives 100% of what she has during every workout and even though she may not be a fan of running or wall balls, she still works on becoming better whenever her weaknesses shows up! Here's a few words from the woman herself!!!

Name:

Brooke Castro

Where are you from?:

Pottstown

When was your first experience with CrossFit? What was it like? You obviously went back a second time, why?:

I joined CrossFit in 2013. The first night I went, I thought I was going to die. It was the hardest workout I ever did! I kept going back because I loved how challenging everything was. That's what I needed!

What are your hobbies?:

I wish I had some exciting hobby I enjoy, but I'm pretty boring. I love lifting, being with my husband, kids, dogs, and watching movies with them when we have the time!

What are one or two improvements in your life since starting CrossFit?:

Everyday things are some much easier for me now. Anything from carrying heavy things, walking up steps, and having enough energy to make it through the day.

What have been some notable achievements at CrossFit Kazam?:

There are so many! I've learned so much so far and I'm excited for more to come. My biggest achievements I'd have to say is that I am now able to do rope climbs and pull-ups which is something I've never been able to do in my life!

What would you tell someone thinking about starting CrossFit?:

I tell people all the time to try CrossFit. I tell them the hardest part is walking through that door, but once you do, you'll never stop coming back.

What’s your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement?:

Favorite:

Back Squats

Least Favorite:

Thrusters

What’s your spirit animal?:

Can I say beer? I'm saying beer :)

Anything else you would like to share with your Kazam family…. Kazamily!?:

I'm so happy I decided to join Kazam. The positivity from every single person here is what makes me so happy to show up every day!
