Member Spotlight: Matt Eanes


It was about this time last year when Matt walked through the doors of CrossFit Kazam. After talking with him, I could tell he was really looking for what CrossFit Kazam could offer him. Looking to get him in to give it a try, I didn't see Matt for several months before he came back in. Now, he's a lunch time faithful. If he's not traveling for work, he always at the 11:45am class. Matt is always asking questions, looking to constantly improve and perfect his movements every day. "Becoming a better you" is the name of the game, and over the recent months, Matt has really excelled in the game. While always being the first one to reach out with a "how's it going?" I'm sure most of us have gotten to know Matt over the recent months. Though, as a newer member of the Kazamily, I think we should all have a chance to meet the "tall Matt."

"Born- Martinsville, VA

Current- Sanatoga

Moving- Valley Forge, PA"

What is your athletic background?:

"Played everything but Basketball and Golf were primary"

What was your first experience with CrossFit?:

"Watching the Games on TV and being amazed, as I ate a bag of Doritos"

When did you start CrossFit?:

"July 2016"

Why did you chose CrossFit Kazam?:

"After looking at the local options, I loved the family vibe and welcoming atmosphere"

What keeps you coming back?:

"EVERYTHING! I'm addicted to the progress, I hate missing a day and seeing the scores on the board and knowing I missed out!"

How do you like to spend your free time (other than CrossFit)?:

"Hanging with the wife and kids and playing golf"

What are one or two improvements in your life since starting CrossFit?:

"It's really hard to only list one or two- I've lost 25 pounds, two pant sizes, full turnaround in my endurance but the best is that I can keep up with my kids again!"

What have been some notable achievements at CrossFit Kazam?:

"Everyday it seems brings a new win for me as I couldn't RX anything 6 months ago and I still PR a couple times a week!"

What would you tell someone thinking about starting CrossFit?:

"Do think, just do it! Get out of your own way! It took me 6 months after first talking to Coach Kyle to actually walk back in and get started! It'll be the best thing you do this year"

What’s your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement?:

"Favorite- Deadlifts

Least- Overhead squats"

What’s your favorite cheat meal?:

"Chocolate milkshakes- no question"

Anything else you would like to share with your Kazam family…. Kazamily!?:

"Just THANK YOU- All of you! I appreciate the support and encouragement you guys bring everyday, especially those first few months, it was hard to get out of bed much less show up but knowing we were in it together made all the difference!"
