It's getting real... I'm going to be THAT guy!
For the first blog post on the new website, I plan on doing a little bragging. Yeah, I’m going to be THAT GUY! Don’t turn away just yet. I don’t intend on bragging about myself; though, can I say quick that I have the best job in the world?! My intention with this first blog post is to put ALL of my Kazamily on the spotlight. I think it’s only right for the first blog post to give you my perspective on what I see on a day-to-day basis.

When I wake up in the morning, I get to come in to the gym to a group of people who decided that they want to become better. I enjoy the little talks before class whether it be about the WOD, how work went today, who won the ball game yesterday. Walk in to an LA Fitness and ask me how often you see people interacting and making conversation about stuff other than “you need a spot, bro?!” When class starts, I see a group of people who all have come from different backgrounds, had different days whether maybe some bad days and maybe some people had good days, some have kids, some just got out of high school, some just got out of work, some are just going to work. When it’s all said and done, they are standing in a circle participating in the day’s warm-up.
When you get a group of people together who are all motivated to accomplish goals, magic happens! These last two weeks alone have been incredible. Just on Tuesday we tested our max effort Split jerk. You know how many people I saw that Pr’d?! A lot. With hard work and dedication to refining the movement, improvement happened. Last week we retested Cindy. Even if it was by 1 rep, there was a great deal of improvement from one year to the next. Some people used bands for pull-ups last year and this year did bodyweight pull-ups. Maybe you didn’t do more reps than you previously did, but you still did more in terms of it being more of a challenge. When you can challenge yourself more and more each and every day, that to me is more of a PR and greatly accept you challenging yourself. Among a few firsts – first rope climb, first time doing a competition, first time stringing double unders – these last few weeks have been awesome and those we’re just 2 weeks in Kazam’s 2 year history. I can’t wait to see what the next many years are going to bring! Keep up the awesome work, crew!
